Once again facing our rivals, the girls advance to the semifinals of playoffs and meet with Greenbelt. Unfortunately, their coach Ms. Dudley was unable to join them for this game. On a very hot day, it’s important to apply sunscreen and drink lots of water, so the players made sure to do just that. (#25) Rainier scored a beautiful, impressive 2 goals from foul and corner kicks. (#35) Madinah was hurt badly on her knee, but was able to return to the game not long after. They lost 2-3.
But the fact that they lost does not mean that they failed. Do not look and what you didn’t do, couldn’t do—focus on what you did do, what you did well, and how far it got you. The girls did amazing work today and fought well despite the pressure, sweltering heat, and thoughts of upcoming concerts. Last defender Rainier scored, which is in and of itself a spectacle. Goalie Dumebi held up under the heat in her long-sleeved uniform and managed to still save some goals, which deserves respect. The whole team tried, and their effort has left waves of impact upon the field and in Dora Kennedy’s name.
So they didn’t win, but they sure did a whole lot more than lose.
This will be the last post of the DKFI soccer adventures. The manager who runs this account is graduating this year, along with many other players on the team.
